December Views 2009: The Explanation
Wednesday, November 25, 2009
“In photography there is a reality so subtle that it becomes more real than reality.” (Alfred Stieglitz)
Last November (2008) and the November before that (2007), I participated in Nablopomo and I needed a break from writing about my life. So I took a vow of silence here. A no rules vow of silence because there are enough rules in life and I didn’t want to add anymore to the mix especially during the busy holiday season. I did it for me but a lot of you opted to join me and we built a little bit of fun community around it and I like tradition which is why I participated in Nablopomo again this year and which is why I am bringing back December Views, Year III.
I really want to spend some time with the visual, sinking into the silence and observing the world around me, creating my view of that world and I thought I would share that here.
Rather than blogging words, I am going to blog images for the month of december. There are no rules and though I intend on blogging images everyday ~ that is not the intention, rather then intention is to allow myself to enjoy the quiet, to allow myself a month of no stress creativity and to allow myself to share a bit of my world with you in a completely different way than I usually do. I am excited.
Some of you are opting to join me, the more the merrier I say. If at any time during December, you want to do the same, let me know and I’ll link you. I think it would be fun to see your world through images. This doesn’t have to be high arty photography though it can be. It doesn’t have to be sharp photograhy though it can be. It just has to reflect your days, your life, your thoughts or your reflection. Feel free to join at any time … use words, don’t use words and remember it really is all about having a month of beauty, however that looks for you.

I love this idea! Please sign me up.
Please add me to your list. I had such fun doing this last year.
This is such a wonderful idea. Would love to be added, please? I am on Livejournal: http://88greenthumb.livejournal.com/
Bless you. I MAY join you. I'll let you know. Thank you!
please add me - though i intend to do a bit of photo, a bit of words... as i always do.
i'm in even though i'm a bit late. Couldn't not participate :)
I have my first post on december views,
happy sunday!
Please add me to the list. This could not have come at a better time for me.
This is my first comment here, but I'm a long-time reader of your blog. I love it! :)
I'm going to be doing something similar on my photo blog in January. As a way to spur more creativity in my photos and to get myself to take pictures every day, I'm going to be posting a photo everyday with a few words to describe why I took it and what it means to me. Here's my photo blog: http://naturalechoes.wordpress.com/
I love the photos you've posted so far!
Okay. I'm definitely in. My first "December View" posts tomorrow. I post three times a week. I was already one week into the month and then had 2 to 4 other blogs planned or written that needed to post this month. The rest are of the December View spirit. THANK YOU. I have been trying to conceive of a way to take a break and work on some blog development and other STUFF this month. I spent about two days posting for the month. Ahh. Done! Thank you again! www.LeisaHammett.com
I love this idea...I can't wait to check out all of the blogs! I've been posting a photo a day on my blog...and just adding a quote & a paragraph or two...about my wishes for this holiday season.
It's a very simple blog and I can't promise that the grammar is correct or that the pictures are the best, but it comes from the heart. http://everyday-glimpses.blogspot.com/2009/12/wish-no-7.html
Thanks!
I must remember this for next year!
I've loved seeing everyone's posts. I'm joining in...at least for today;)
love to you, sweetie.
The code posted in the blog entry for the image contains both regular quotes as well as smart quotes. If that code is pasted directly into a blog entry or the HTML for a template or so on, there may be problems with how it posts. I took the code, pasted it into notepad, and then I replaced all smart quotes with regular quotes and it works perfectly fine.
However, your blog commenting form does not allow me to leave CODE even though it claims to have enabled the necessary HTML tags for it, so I've had to post the resulting code on my own blog post. Please feel free to use it at will. It's here: http://photos.lmashton.com/december-views-sunset/
Having said all that, I'm in. :) I'll be participating at http://photos.lmashton.com.
thank you for your inspiration and grace this month!
